Geodata Conferencing

The development team aimed to provide the following functionality for the geodata conference system:

  • Success to and fusion of geospatial information from multiple sources;
  • User control over displayed layers;
  • A synchronized viewer;
  • Georeferenced pointers;
  • Georeferenced, editable annotations;
  • Text messages;
  • Session persistence; and
  • Templates for rapid set-up.

The Solutions

The geodata conference system is built on the following principles:

  • Three server components: a conferencing server, a data router and a data provider;
  • Only images (rendered information) travel beyond the data provider;
  • Components communicate using TCP/IP, and can be distributed; and
  • Sessions are saved as XML (map background metadata, annotations and log).
