Marine Application

Conclusion

By using CGDI-endorsed standards and leveraging the existing capabilities of DFO’s GeoPortal, the NRAAH team managed to fulfill their spatial requirements in a cost-effective way. Thanks to the National Registry of Aquatic Animal Diseases, an important part of Canada’s natural resource heritage and future is being documented, analyzed and protected.

Future enhancements to the National Registry of Aquatic Animal Diseases include:

  • The Marine Environmental Data Service hosting its own web map server; and
  • Adding a map visualization component into the NRAAH web application. This could be supported using Chameleon or other embedded OGC-compliant viewers.
