CGDI Place Name Lookup Service

The CGDI Place Name Lookup Service finds all places in Canada that match by place name.

This service returns a repeatable set of the feature description, encoded in GML 2.1.2, with
latitude-longitude coordinates. The output may provide several features if the search criteria
match several geographic places. In addition, the geometry that is returned can vary from
simple to complex, depending on the input request.

To implement the CGDI Place Name Lookup Service in your own application, you will need to
consider the following elements:

  1. The output format of an XML/GML may contain one or more features. There may be
several features provided in the output if the search criteria match several geographic places.

  2. The output encoding is OGC GML 2.1.2.
