How do I use and implement filter encoding?

Since the Filter Encoding specification was designed to work with the web feature service, you can use it with a broad range of services that require the ability to express predicates in XML.

To implement the filter encoding specification, follow these 3 steps:

1. Find and familiarize yourself with an existing web feature server and web map server with a styled layer descriptor that uses filter encoding.
   
   
2. Read the OpenGIS® Filter Encoding Implementation Specification
   
   An overview of this specification is available on the GeoConnections website
   
   
3. Configure your software to add a filter encoding component.
