WMS
In Action
As you have seen, you can easily combine and integrate a variety of web
map services in a wide variety of applications. Consider the case of Gerard,
a fire service operator in Manitoba, whose job it is to regularly check
the status of forest fires in that province. The provincial forestry department
has created an application that validates forest fire burn areas using
satellite browse imagery. This application allows Gerard to detect and
assess burn areas quickly and accurately, and to contact the appropriate
emergency services.
