CGDI-endorsed Standards and Specifications

To use CGDI-endorsed standards and specifications, you must first be familiar with them. That means more reading!





Module 6, Visualizing Geospatial Data, provides more information about the Web Map Server Interface, Styled Layer Descriptor and Web Context Document specifications.

Module 7, Accessing Geospatial Data, describes Geography Markup Language, Web Feature Service and Filter Encoding in more detail.

Module 8, Using Gazetteers, provides specific examples of gazetteers available within the CGDI.

Finally, the Guide to the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure provides more detailed information on how to use CGDI-endorsed standards and specifications.





Before you start

XML is pervasive in geospatial specifications. You should be familiar with XML and related technologies (such as XML Schema and eXtensible Stylesheet Language (XSL) before using CGDI-endorsed specifications.
