The 2010 Federal Budget announced renewed funding for the GeoConnections program. The Budget provides $11 million in funding over the next two years to continue development of the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI) and to provide consolidated geographic-related information to Canadians via the Internet.

GeoConnections successfully delivered on its previous mandate to support CGDI users, while demonstrating the value of improved access to geospatial information and the benefits of interoperable standards and technologies. GeoConnections will continue to work with stakeholders to develop and promote policies and standards to support the use of geospatial information and will provide leadership and coordination in Canada.

Together we can ensure that all Canadians effectively share and use geographical information about our land, people and natural resources to support economic, social and environmental priorities.
