Several times a year, GeoConnections organizes meetings and workshops to share information regarding the use of geospatial information in Canada, the evolution of the CGDI, and the activities of the program. In many cases, these workshops generate discussions that help shape GeoConnections' program directions and policy development.

GeoConnections has launched an omnibus Announcement of Opportunity for CGDI User Communities in early June 2007. This announcement, the largest in terms of contribution funding ever released for the program, represents a substantially different approach to the partnering process. (PPT: 1.4MB)

In this session, GeoConnections will discuss the new integrated Announcement of Opportunity (AO) funding strategy. The purpose of the integrated AO funding strategy is to link activities associated with strategic planning, capacity building, user requirements, thematic content and standards, decision support system development and regional atlas development into a cohesive multi-phase project that leads to maximum leveraging of the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI) by user communities.
