Developing Regional Atlases for Decision Making - Announcement Summary

What can be applied for?
GeoConnections is soliciting proposals to develop online regional atlases that increase the availability and use of distributed geospatial data content on the Internet, while feeding decision-making processes with rich, contextual information that is highly relevant to end-users. Regional atlases must make use of standards endorsed by GeoConnections and of technologies that form part of the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure.
Regional atlases must support decision making in one or more of the following issue areas:
- Public health: Facilitating disease surveillance or population health analysis;
- Public safety/security: Facilitating emergency management and response, or critical infrastructure protection;
- Environment/sustainable development: Facilitating integrated land/marine management, including land/water-use planning, environmental assessment, and indicator monitoring; and
- Matters of importance to Aboriginal peoples: Facilitating land and resource management, and community planning.
Who can apply?
Proposals will be accepted from end-users* or enablers** from government departments or agencies (local, provincial/territorial, or federal), Crown corporations, academic institutions, private-sector organizations, Aboriginal organizations, or non-government organizations.
How much can be applied for?
GeoConnections will fund up to 50% of a total project's cost, up to a maximum of $100,000, exclusive of GST, PST, and HST.
