Témiscouata

The MRC of Témiscouata covers an area of 3 921 km2 and 20 municipalities. The principal mandate of the MRC is to produce a regional development plan. But the provincial government has imposed a moratorium on development on any lots bordering lakes inhabited by grey trout (touladi). The moratorium will be maintained until it his demonstrated that development will not adversely impact the fish habitat. Specifically, the project that the MRC will undertake with the GIS will model the leaching of phosphates in the soils within the watersheds of Lac Méruimticook.
