Tl'azt'en/Nak'azdli

With traditional territories of over 22,000 square kilometres, the Tl'azt'en Nation and Nak'azdli Band are being challenged by trying to maintain traditional activities in a watershed dominated by forestry activity. Both First Nations have had specialized GIS applications developed to look at these activities but do not have the internal expertise to use these tools to their best advantage nor to develop holistic GIS applications that can look at the landscape in the broad all-inclusive manner, necessary to balance traditional and modern economic activities.

This project will support the acquisition of hardware, software, and the training of staff and community members for certification in the use of GIS and GPS technologies.
